Questions and Answers

Q: How does a turnbuckle work?

A turnbuckle, stretching screw or bottlescrew is a device for adjusting the tension or length of ropes, rigging cables, tie rods, and other tensioning systems

One end has a right handed thread and the other end has a left handed thread. Tension can be adjusted by rotating the frame, which causes both eye bolts to be screwed in or out simultaneously, without twisting the anchor points or attached cables

Q: What size turnbuckle should i buy?

If you are using the turnbuckle with wire rope we always recommend doubling the diameter of turnbuckle from the wire rope diameter

Example

3mm wire rope - 6mm turnbuckle

4mm wire rope - 8mm turnbuckle

5mm wire rope - 10mm turnbuckle

6mm wire rope - 12mm turnbuckle
